Model name: Classic Style C7 LED lights

Made by: Brite Star

5 solid colors, no flash, no patterns.

Each set has 25 lights at 5 inch spacing on a 10 foot strand. You can connect 87 sets for 920 feet to a single outlet using just 2.4 watts per set.

This set had a horrible flicker that was maddening and renders these LED lights useless. The camera doesn’t show the horrible 60Hz flicker. However the camera does pickup the lights dimming on and off in groups.

In the video I use my oscilloscope to show the source and reason for the flicker and also cover how to correctly measure the current in such a circuit where the current is 1/2 wave rectified. The equation is: sqr root (sqr of AC current + sqr of DC current) There is also a trick to getting the Hz and duty cycle and reason why. I also show how easy it is to meter current when there is a DC offset using a Fluke 289 because this meter has an AC+DC setting which means it does the math for you.
