This video covers beginner’s tips and tricks on ham radio fox hunting and includes details to build a DIY yagi antenna.

In the last 3 minutes of the video 4 young kids go out to rescue the poor lost Easter Bunny and his basket of candy. The Easter bunny is wearing a radio transmitter so this fox hunt becomes an Easter Sunday bunny rescue. The boys did great and had no problem learning to use a ham radio and directional antenna to locate the lost bunny.

Our fox, aka bunny, was the Byonics micro-Fox 15 which is a 15mw transmitter in the 2 meter ham band. This fox is sold by a company local to my area on www.Byonics.com I will do a review and tutorial of the micro-Fox 15 in a follow up video.

Where to buy the fox:  Byonics http://www.byonics.com/mf

How to build this yagi antenna: Dupage Amateur Radio Club http://www.w9dup.org/club_projects_pdfs/fox_hunt_antenna_2010_apr.pdf

Link to tape measure yagi: http://theleggios.net/wb2hol/projects/rdf/tape_bm.htm

As a little extra gift for my daughter’s 21st birthday I got Veronica an hour with a professional racer car instructor at the Firebird International raceway in Chandler, AZ. She got to drive 3 laps at any speed she liked in a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

I couldn’t get a top speed off the film footage and she didn’t look down to check either. But it must have been fast enough because the instructor was a bit shaken at the end.  I don’t think he was ready for a girl to drive the Lambo at such speeds. She was the only driver to be allowed out on the raceway without a lead pace car so I’m thinking they really had no expectation she could push that sports car to its limits. She drove great and made the place sound like a real race track on race day for all 3 laps. What an amazing sounding car when it is being pushed.

If you’re in the area you can setup your own race day at: Global Exotic Car Rentals www.globalexoticcarrentals.com or Call 480-719-7377

I cut a video together of the event and tried to keep the footage in real time between two cameras. But I did cut in 3 time repeats for the big straight away down the back of the track just for the added enjoyment.
